Drive Axle, with Triple Roller Joint AAR2600i

Disassembling

For removal of the outer Constant Velocity (CV) joint, refer to --> [ Disassembling ] Drive Axle, with CV Joints VL90 and VL100.

- Open both clamps for the inner CV joint boot and slide the boot back.

- Remove the joint piece from axle shaft.

- Remove the securing ring.





1 Pliers (commercially available) or (VW 161A)

- Secure the axle shaft in a vise.

- Press the triple roller star off of the axle shaft.





- Pull off the inner CV joint boot from the shaft.

- Clean the axle shaft, joint piece and groove for the oil seal.

Assembling

- Slide the small clamp for the inner CV joint boot onto the axle shaft.

- Slide the inner CV joint boot onto the axle shaft.

- Slide the joint piece onto axle shaft.

Mounting the Triple Roller Star, Conical Axle Shaft- arrow -

The chamfer on the triple roller star faces toward the axle shaft, this is used as an assembly aid.

- Place the triple roller star onto axle shaft and press on until seated.





- Make sure that pressure does not increase above 3.0 t!

- Coat the drive axle splines and triple roller star using solid lubricant (G 052 142 A2) if necessary.

- Insert the securing ring, be sure to fit properly.

- Press 70 grams of joint grease from the repair kit, into the joint piece.

- Slide the joint piece over roller star and secure.

- Press 60 grams of joint grease, from the repair kit, into the reverse side of the joint piece.

- Install the inner CV joint boot.

Mounting the Triple Roller Star, Cylindrical Axle Shaft - arrow -

- Place the triple roller star onto the axle shaft and press on until seated.





- Make sure that pressure does not increase above 3.0 t!

- Coat the drive axle splines and triple roller star using solid lubricant (G 052 142 A2) if necessary.

- Insert the securing ring, be sure to fit properly.

- Press 70 grams of joint grease from the repair kit, into the joint piece.

- Slide the joint piece over the roller star and secure.

- Press 60 grams of the joint grease, from the repair kit, into the reverse side of the joint piece.

- Install the inner CV joint boot.

- Tension both clamps using (VAG 1275).
