Adjusting Rear Lid

Adjusting Rear Lid

Vehicle must be on ground to adjust rear lid.

Rear lid lock - 2 - is screwed directly onto rear lid - 1 -. It does not have elongated holes and therefore cannot be adjusted.

Stop buffers - 3 - on left and right sides do not serve to adjust. Their function is to stabilize and to cushion the rear lid - 1 -.

The rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension and body contours align when closed

Rear lid must engage in striker pin - 4 - without great force.





To adjust or check the gap dimensions, use Adjustment Gauge (3371).

- The rear lid can be adjusted in the holes on the hinge - 3 - by loosening the nut - 2 -.





- The rear lid can be adjusted slightly at the mounting bolts - 3 -.





- After adjustment work, corrosion protection measure must be performed on hinge and on bolts.

- Adjust rear lid at lock cylinder.

- Adjust right and left adjustment buffers.

Adjusting Latch Bracket

By loosening the bolts, the striker pin can be moved in the elongated holes.

Adjust the lock cylinder so the rear lid lock opening engages centered with the striker.

- Remove bumper cover. Refer to--> [ Bumper Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Loosen bolts - 1 -.





- Bring the striker pin - 2 - into the top position and tighten the bolts - 1 -.

- Close rear lid and check adjustment.

The rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed and body contours align.

- Tightening specification: Bolts - 1 - 23 Nm.

Adjusting Buffer

- Tighten the stop - 2 -, bolt - 3 - tightening specification : 10 Nm.

- Remove the cover - 4 - from the adjustment buffer.

- Loosen the bolt - 5 - on the adjustment buffer - 6 - slightly until the buffer can slide into the stop - direction of arrow -.

- Close rear lid to initial locking position - 1 - using light pressure over center.

- Open rear lid again.

- Tighten the bolt - 5 -, tightening specification: 10 Nm.

- Press the cover - 4 - onto the adjustment buffer.
