Tire, with Run-Flat Tires

Tire, with Run-Flat Tires

Pressing Off

CAUTION!
Note the safety precautions. Refer to --> [ Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions ] Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions.

- Release the air from the tire, remove the nickel coated valve insert to do so.

- When pressing off the tire on a tire mounting device with press off blade, always make sure that the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - arrow - is located opposite the press-off blade - 1 -.

The press off blade must be applied at a maximum 2 cm removed from the wheel flange.

- Remove the balancing weights and coarse dirt from the wheel.

- Press off both tire beads around the circumference while thoroughly applying tire mounting paste between the tire and wheel flange - arrow -.

Dismounting

CAUTION!
Note the safety precautions. Refer to --> [ Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions ] Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions.

- Turn the wheel on the tire mounting device so that the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - 2 - stands in front of the mounting head - 1 -.

CAUTION!
The mounting head - 1 - must not be located in the area - a - of the tire valve/tire pressure sensor, otherwise the mounting head will damage the tire pressure sensor.

- Position the mounting head - 1 - in the vicinity of tire valve/tire pressure sensor so that the tire iron can be put on approximately 30 degrees next to the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - 2 -.

- Install the press holders - 3 - on the wheel opposite the mounting head - 1 -.

- Now pry the tire bead over the mounting finger on the mounting head using the tire iron and remove the tire iron again.

- Let the tire mounting device run clockwise until the upper bead lies completely above the wheel flange.

This slides the press holders - 1 - against the mounting head. This allows them to be removed again easily.

- Position the mounting head - 1 - in the vicinity of the tire valve/tire pressure sensor so that the tire iron can be put on approximately 30 degrees next to the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - 2 -.

- Now pry the tire bead over the mounting finger of the mounting head using the tire iron - 3 -.

- In addition, insert a plastic mounting lever - 4 -.

- Remove the tire iron - 3 - again.

- Using the plastic mounting lever - 1 -, hold the bead in place over the wheel flange from outside and let the tire mounting device run clockwise until the tire has been removed completely from the wheel.

Check the tire pressure sensor for loose or damaged parts. If the threaded connections are loose, the union nut, valve insert, seal, sealing washer and valve cap must be replaced by new parts from the repair set.

If the tire pressure sensor is damaged, then it must be completely replaced. Refer to --> [ Tire Pressure Sensor Assembly Overview ] Tire Pressure Sensor Assembly Overview.

Mounting

CAUTION!
Pay attention to the instructions for warming up cold tires to the minimum mounting temperature. Refer to --> [ Run Flat Tire Assembly Requirements ] Run Flat Tire Assembly Requirements.

Note the safety precautions. Refer to --> [ Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions ] Run Flat Tires Safety Precautions.

- Coat the wheel flanges, tire beads and inside of the upper tire beads thoroughly with tire mounting paste.

- Turn the wheel on the tire mounting device so that the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - 1 - stands on the opposite side of the mounting head - 2 -.

- Let the tire mounting device run clockwise.

- Mounting of the lower bead ends before the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - arrow - in order to prevent damage to the tire pressure sensor.

The tire bead now slips over the wheel flange. The wheel may be turned only so far until the mounting head is located just in front of the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - arrow -.

- Turn the wheel on the tire mounting device so that the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - 1 - stands on the opposite side of the mounting head - 2 -.

- Install the press holders - 3 - on the wheel.

- Make sure the tire bead fits correctly on the mounting head and let the mounting device run clockwise.

- Mounting of the upper bead ends before the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - arrow - in order to prevent damage to the tire pressure sensor.

The tire bead now slips over the wheel flange. The wheel may be turned only so far until the mounting head is located just in front of the tire valve/tire pressure sensor - arrow -.

- Remove the press holders from the wheel flange.

- Inflate the tire to an inflation pressure of max. 3.3 bar (spring pressure).

CAUTION!
If the tire bead does not make contact completely on the wheel edge, the pressure must not be increased under any circumstances.

Pre-damage to the tire or wheel would result.

- If the tire beads do not make contact completely on the wheel edge, then release the air, press off the tire bead once more and coat the wheel flange thoroughly again with tire mounting paste.

- Inflate the tire to an inflation pressure of max. 3.3 bar (spring pressure).

- If the tire beads make contact on the bead seat without problems, then increase the inflation pressure to 4 bar to settle the tire.

- Install a new nickel coated valve insert and fill the tire to the specified tire inflation pressure.

- Then balance the wheel.

- Install the wheel and tighten it to specification. Refer to --> [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] .
