Tightening Torque & Sequences

CYLINDER HEAD


Cylinder Head Cover Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification






Tighten the new cylinder head cover bolts in 3 passes in sequence - 1 through 6 - as follows:

Tighten the bolts to 8 Nm.

Tighten the bolts an additional 90° (1/ 4 turn).

Cylinder Head, Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification






new cylinder head bolts in 3 passes in sequence - 1 through 5 - as follows:

Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm.
Using a TORX(R) bit, tighten an additional 90° (1/4 turn).
Using a TORX(R) bit, tighten and additional 90° (1/4 turn).
Tighten the new bolts - arrows - to 8 Nm.
Tighten the bolts - arrows - using a TORX(R) bit an additional 90° (1/4).

HEAD BOLT REUSE/REPLACE

Always replace the cylinder head bolts.
Always replace self locking nuts, bolts which have been tightened to specifications as well as gaskets and O-rings.
The plastic protectors installed to protect the open valves must only be removed immediately before installing the cylinder head.
When replacing the cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, the coolant must be completely replaced.
Collect any leaking coolant in a clean container for disposal or reuse

CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP

Bearing Bracket to Exhaust Camshaft Bolt 1
M6 8 Nm + 90 degree turn
M8 20 Nm + 90 degree turn

MAIN BEARING CAP





Tighten the crankshaft bearing cap bolts in sequence - 1 through 10 - as shown:
Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - and - arrows - by hand.
Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - to 65 Nm.
Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - an additional 90°.
Tighten the bolts - arrows - to 20 Nm.
Tighten the bolts - arrows - an additional 90°.

ROD BEARING CAP

Connecting Rod Bolt 1
M8 30 Nm + 90 degrees Turn
M9 45 Nm + 90 degrees Turn

CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

Vibration Damper to Crankshaft Bolt 1 150 Nm + 90 degrees Turn

FLYWHEEL/FLEX PLATE

Dual Mass Flywheel to Crankshaft Bolt 1 60 Nm + 90 degrees Turn

WATER PUMP
