Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A)

Remote Control Key Battery, removing and installing, refer to --> Keyless Entry Transmitter Battery

Ignition Key Radio Frequency Unit (Radio-Operated Central Locking Transmitter), removing and installing, refer to --> Keyless Entry

Ignition Key, Variable Code Transponder

It is not possible to replace variable code transponder in ignition key.

Ignition key must always be replaced if variable code transponder is malfunctioning.

• If an ignition key is replaced or another ignition key is required, the new ignition key must always be adapted to the immobilizer.

• If radio-frequency unit (transmitter for radio operated central locking) of ignition key is replaced, it must be adapted to the comfort system.

Lost Ignition Key

All vehicle keys (subsequently ordered keys as well) are already pre-coded to a specific vehicle from the factory and can only be adapted to this vehicle. Additional vehicle keys must be ordered specifying the correct VIN and then the new key must be adapted to the engine control module (J362).

• The function "New identity when replacing all components" must be called up before replacing the lock set or the control modules.

Ignition Key, Adapting to Immobilizer

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- On the (VAS 5051A), select "Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Electrical Equipment

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Capable Systems

• Anti-Theft Immobilizer

• Immobilizer IV Download

• Ignition Key Adaptation

Ignition Key, Adapting to Comfort System

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- On the (VAS 5051A), select "Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Body repair procedures

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Capable Systems

• Comfort System

• Functions - central control module for comfort system

• J393 - Adapting / checking key with radio-frequency remote control

New Identity When Replacing All Components

All required steps necessary for new installation of all immobilizer components are performed by this program.

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- In (VAS 5051A), select operating mode " Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Electrical Equipment

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Capable Systems

• Immobilizer IV Download

• Anti-theft Immobilizer Functions

• New Identity

Fazit System Test

The following steps will be performed by this test program:

• System test for online connection

• Test of user authorization

• Test of correct wire connection to Volkswagen database

The requirements for this is the online connection (network connection) of the tester

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- In (VAS 5051A), select operating mode " Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the "Go To" button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Electrical Equipment

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) Capable Systems

• Immobilizer IV Download

• Anti-theft Immobilizer Functions
