Front Seat Backrest

• Removal and installation is described for left seat. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right seat.

Removing

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove front seat. Refer to --> [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove right trim on seat.

Vehicles with manual seat adjustment

- Remove left trim on seat.

Vehicles with power backrest adjustment on the driver seat

- Remove right trim on seat. Refer to --> [ Right Seat Trim Panel with Power Lumbar Adjustment ] Right Seat Trim Panel With Power Lumbar Adjustment

Vehicles with electric seat adjustment

- Remove left power seat trim. Refer to --> [ Power Seat Trim, Left ] Power Seat Trim, Left.

All vehicles

- Disengage retaining straps from backrest cover on underside of seat frame.

- Disconnect wiring harnesses from side airbag and, if necessary, separate seat heater from seat frame and set wiring harnesses aside.

- Remove two bolts each on left and right sides - 1 - and - 2 - (35 Nm).

• The bolts are microencapsulated and must therefore be replaced after every removal.

• Before installing the new bolts, the threads of the corresponding nuts must be cleaned.

- Remove the backrest from the seat frame.





Installing

To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
