Rear Suspension






Wheel Bearing and Hub

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Grease cap puller (VW 637/2)

Seal installer (3241)

Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1332)

Torque wrench (VAG 1410)

Bit XZN 18 (T10162)

Removing

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove the wheel.

Loosen the dust cap by tapping lightly on the claw of the (VW 637/2).





- Pull off dust cap using (VW 637/2).





- Remove the brake carrier with brake caliper and secure to the vehicle using wire.

Secure the brake caliper to the vehicle.

- Remove the bolt for the brake disc and remove the brake disc.

- Remove the drive axle bolt using (T10162).

- Remove the wheel hub and bearing from the drive axle.

Installing

- Carefully slide the wheel hub and bearing onto the drive axle.

Make sure that wheel hub and bearing do not tilt!

- Install a new drive axle bolt and tighten.

First, tighten the bolt to specifications using a torque wrench.

Use a wrench to apply the additional torque angle.

- Install the dust cap using (3241/4).





Always replace the dust cap.

Damaged dust caps allow moisture to enter. Therefore, always use the tool shown.

Further installation is performed in reverse order.

- Install the wheel and tighten. Refer to --> [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] .
