Clutch System, Bleeding

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Brake filler/bleeder unit (VAS 5234)

• Pre-filing the system is not necessary!

- Remove entire air filter housing if bleeder (- arrow - lower illustration) is not accessible through it

- Connect brake filler/bleeder unit (VAS 5234).

If necessary, use bleeder hose (670 mm long) (V.A.G 1238/B3) to bleed system.

- Connect bleeder hose to collector bottle of brake bleeder unit.

- Connect bleeder hose to bleeder - arrow -.





- Pressurize system to 2 bar.

- Open bleeder valve.

- Bleed approximately 100 cm 3 of brake fluid.

- Close bleeder valve.

- Operate pedal rapidly from stop to stop, 10 to 15 times.

- Open bleeder valve.

- Bleed another 50 cm 3 of brake fluid.

- Close bleeder valve.

- Depress clutch pedal several times after completion of bleeding process.

- If removed, install entire air filter housing
