Towing Recognition Control Module, Output Diagnostic Test Mode

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A)

• Power outlet tester (V.A.G 1537/A)

The towing recognition control module (J345) detects "use of a trailer" by a performance decrease of at least 5 W.

(V.A.G 1537/A) becomes too warm after a few minutes of use and switches off automatically. After a cooling off phase, ( V.A.G 1537/A) functions normally again.

Test Sequence

- Connect (V.A.G 1537/A).

- Connect the (VAS 5051A).

- On the (VAS 5051A), select "Guided Fault Finding".

- Using the Sprung button, select "Functions/Component selection" and the following menu options in sequence:

• Body

• Body repair procedures

• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems

• Towing sensor

• Functions

• Towing Recognition Control Module - output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)
