Rear Door: Adjustments

Rear Door, Wagon

The rear doors on the Wagon are different in concept from the rear doors on the Sedan. The outer door panel is not longer removable. The window regulator and the door lock are accessible when the subframe is removed.

Adjusting Door

CAUTION!
The nut for eccentric pin - 9 - must not be loosened under any circumstances. It cannot be secured again using workshop equipment.

The door is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed and contours align.

Vehicle must stand on its wheels in order to be able to perform the adjustment.

Pay attention to rear door gap dimensions.

For a correct adjustment of the gap dimensions, bolts - 6 -, - 7 -, - 11 - and - 12 - must be loosened.

Other measures, such as aligning the door upward, are not effective. Excess pressure thereafter will again cause the door to sag.

For a correct adjustment of the alignment, bolts - 4 -, - 5 - and - 13 - as well as guide bolts - 2 - and - 8 - must be loosened.

For this, the door adjusting wrench (3320) with the bit insert (3320/3) must be used.

Adjusting Latch Bracket

When closing, rear door must lock completely without further applied force and must have no play.

By adjusting the latch bracket, rear door must not be pushed upward or downward.

With the latch bracket, one can adjust If adjustment of rear door to side panel is not aligned.

- Loosen the striker pin - 1 - by loosening the bolts - 2 - on the side panel.

- Adjust the rear door with the striker pin - 1 - so the rear door aligns with the rear side panel when closed (wind noise).

Maximum rotation tolerance - A - on striker pin: ± 3°

- Tighten the bolts - 2 -.

Tightening specifications: 20 Nm

CAUTION!
Only use this adjustment to align the door inward our outward, not vertically. The door must not move up or down when opening or closing. If it does, the striker pin vertical adjustment is incorrect.
