Cooling System Components Overview, Body Side





1 Upper coolant hose

For coolant distribution housing on cylinder head.

2 O-ring

Replace if damaged.

3 Radiator

Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Radiator ] Service and Repair.

After replacing, replace entire amount of coolant.

4 Gasket

5 Cap

Check using the cooling system tester (VAG 1274) and adapter (VAG 1274/9). Refer to --> [ Pressure Relief Valve in Cap, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

Pressure release valve must open at a pressure of 1.4 to 1.6 bar.

6 Connector

7 Bolt, 3 Nm

8 Expansion tank

Perform a leak test of the cooling system using the cooling system tester (VAG 1274) and adapter (VAG 1274/8). Refer to --> [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.

9 Bracket

For the radiator.

10 Bolt, 5 Nm

11 Spacer piece

For the coolant line bracket.

12 Support

Insert in the lock carrier.

13 Nut, 5 Nm

14 Fan support

15 Bolt, 5 Nm

16 Coolant fan 2 (V177)

Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Cooling Fans ] Service and Repair.

17 Connector

19 Coolant fan (V7)

Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Cooling Fans ] Service and Repair.

With the coolant Fan Control (FC) control module.

20 Lower coolant hose

From connection for coolant distribution.

21 Retaining clip

22 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (on radiator) (G83)

23 O-ring

Always replace.
