Front Axle Toe, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench 40-200 Nm (VAG 1332)

Tool insert AF24 (V.A.G 1332/11)

- Loosen the lock nut - arrow 3 -, counter hold on the tie rod end - arrow 2 - while doing this.





- Pull off the spring clip - arrow 1 - from the boot.

- Set the toe by twisting the left and/or right outer tie rod.

To do this, position an open end wrench on the hex of tie rod.

Be sure that the boots are not twisted after turning the tie rods!

Twisted boots wear out quickly.

- Tighten the lock nut using (VAG 1332/11), counter hold at the tie rod - 1 - while doing so.





- Check the toe value again.

After tightening the lock nut, adjusted value may change slightly.

If the measured toe nevertheless lies within the tolerance, the adjustment is correct.

- Install open spring clip on boot.
