Steering Column Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)

Removing

- Remove the steering column. Refer to --> [ Steering Column ] Steering Column.

- Remove the instrument cluster.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - below the bracket.





- Slide the electrical connector - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove from the mount in the mounting bracket.





- Remove the bolt - arrow A -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows B - from the bracket to the body.

• The bolts - arrows B - are installed from direction of crossmember.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove the mounting bracket from the body.





Installing

- Install the mounting bracket and install bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Install bolts - arrows B -.





• The bolts - arrows B - are installed from direction of crossmember.

- Install bolt - arrow A -.

- Install the electrical connector - 1 - to the mount in the mounting bracket and slide it in the opposite - direction of arrow - until seated.

- Install the bolts - arrows - below the bracket.





- Install the steering column. Refer to --> [ Steering Column ] Steering Column.

- Install the instrument cluster.

- Perform a basic setting on the steering angle sensor using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).

Tightening Specifications
