Drive out needle bearing.
Drive in needle bearing to the stop
- Secure needle bearing in transmission housing at three points (120° offset) using a punch.
Drive seal out of guide sleeve.
Drive seal into guide sleeve to stop.
Pry out sleeve - arrow - using a screwdriver
Pulling sleeve in
- Screw spindle - A - from seal installer set (3066) into threaded piece of differential.
- Pull sleeve in up to stop via thrust pad (3124) by turning nut - B -.
• If transmission is disassembled, press sleeve in onto stop with thrust pad (3124).
Pulling out sleeve and seal
A shoulder is located on the internal diameter of the sleeve
- When pulling out the seal and sleeve, position the pulling hooks (VW 771/37) behind the shoulder in the sleeve.
- While pulling out, press puller hooks (VW 771/37) forcefully into sleeve.
Pulling in sleeve and seal
- Clean seal seat in transmission.
- Screw spindle - A - from seal installer set (3066) into threaded piece of differential.
- Pull sleeve in up to stop via thrust pad (T10148) by turning nut - B -.
• If transmission is disassembled, press sleeve in onto stop using thrust pad (T10148).
Installing oil collector tray - A - into transmission housing
- Insert oil collector tray into bore - arrow 1 - and groove - arrow 2 - at the same time.
