Rear Bumper Assembly Overview
• Overview describes removal and installation of rear bumper for vehicles through June of 2005. Removal and installation applies to vehicles from July 2005, except slight changes.
• Bumper cover is component part of rear end and is removed together. Refer to => [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ] Rear Section / Rear Fender Assembly Overview.
• Observe tightening sequence of bolts - 2 -, - 4 -, - 12 - to ensure surface alignment and joint.
1 Cover
• Vehicles through June 2005.
• Removing:
- Remove tail lights.
- Remove wheel housing liners. Refer to => [ Rear Wheel Housing Liner ] Service and Repair.
- Remove rear end. Refer to => [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ] Rear Section / Rear Fender Assembly Overview.
- Remove bolts - 4 -and remove clips- 5 - at left and right.
- Remove bolts- 2 - and - 12 -.

• Insert with locking fluid (D 185 400 A2)
