Fuel Tank and Attachments Assembly Overview
1 Sealing Plug
• With fastening device.
• Replace if damaged
2 Bolt
3 Fuel Filler Door Unit
• With rubber gasket.
4 Washer
5 Nut, 7 Nm
6 Flange
• Note the installed position, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit Flange Installed Position ].
7 Bolt, 10 Nm
8 Vent Line
• White
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
• Clipped to the side of the fuel tank.
9 from Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister
10 to EVAP Canister
11 Damming Valve
• To remove, remove the fuel tank.
• To remove, compress the retaining tabs.
• Forces flow in direction of the filler tube.
12 Check Valve for Fuel Pump
• Checking, refer to => [ Fuel Pump Checking, Engine Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank) ] Fuel Pump Checking, Engine Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank).
13 to Suction Jet Pump
• Suction jet pump is located on the fuel tank to bleed the fuel tank.
14 Fuel Delivery Unit
• Removal and installation, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Removal and Replacement.
• Fuel level sensor removal and installation, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor ] Removal and Replacement.
• Fuel pump checking, refer to => [ Fuel Pump Checking, Engine Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank) ] Fuel Pump Checking, Engine Code BPR (Metal Fuel Tank).
• Clean the strainer if contaminated.

16 Protective Plate
17 Fuel Tank
• Support using the engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383A) when removing.
• Removal and installation, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Removal and Replacement.
18 Securing Strap
• With rubber profile and spacer sleeve.
19 Bolt, 20 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Replace
20 Bolt, 20 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Replace
21 Nut, 3 Nm
22 Aerodynamic Trim
23 Nut, 3 Nm
24 Heat Shield
• For the fuel tank.
25 to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
26 Connection for Supply Line
27 to Fuel Rail
28 Fuel Filter
• Removal and installation, refer to => [ Fuel Filter ] Removal and Replacement.
• Installed position: Arrows point in direction of flow.
• Secured in the fuel tank
• Removing and installing the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to => [ Fuel Pressure Regulator Removing and installing ].
• When replacing the fuel filter, the fuel supply system must be bled. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Bleeding ] Description and Operation.
29 to Connection in Fuel Tank
30 Supply Line
• Black
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
• To disconnect the fuel filter and connection, press in the securing ring on the connecting piece.
• Note the installed position: Straight and long connection - arrow - points toward the fuel filter.
31 Seal
• Replace
• Note the installed position: Bulge rests on fuel tank.
Fuel Delivery Unit Flange Installed Position
Arrow - A - on the flange must point toward the rear in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle - B -.
Fuel Pressure Regulator Removing and installing
1 Fuel filter, arrows point in direction of flow
2 Rubber hose
3 Retaining clip, check for secure fitting
4 Ground (GND) wire; secured on the fuel filter bracket
5 Supply; from the fuel pump
6 Return; to the fuel pump
7 Fuel pressure regulator; checking, refer to => [ Fuel Pressure Regulator and Residual Pressure Checking, Engine Code BPR ] Fuel Pressure Regulator and Residual Pressure Checking, Engine Code BPR.
8 Gasket; replace
9 O-ring; replace
10 Supply; to connection in fuel tank
