All Wheel Drive

Rear Subframe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Tensioning Strap (T10038)

Wheel Hub Support (T10149)

All bolts for suspension components with bonded rubber bushings must always be tightened in the curb weight position (unloaded condition).

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent.

Components with bonded rubber bushings must therefore be brought into a position that corresponds to the position in the driving mode before being tightened (curb weight position).

Otherwise, the bonded rubber bushing will be stressed resulting in a shortened service life.

By raising the suspension corner using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) and wheel hub support (T10149) , this position can be simulated on the hoist.

Before lifting the suspension corner, the vehicle must be secured on both sides to the lift arms of the hoist using the tension straps (T10038).

The vehicle could fall off the hoist if it is not secured.

- Rotate the wheel hub far enough until one of the holes for the wheel bolts is on top.

- Install the wheel hub support (T10149) with a wheel bolt.

Tightening of the respective bolts/nuts must then only occur after dimension - a - between the wheel hub center and the lower edge of the wheel housing has been attained.

Dimension - a - is dependent on the standing height of the installed suspension:

1 The suspension that the vehicle is equipped with is indicated on the vehicle data plate. The suspension is represented by a Product Relevant (PR) number. To determine which PR number represents which suspension, refer to => [ Wheel Alignment Specified Values ] Wheel Alignment Specified Values.

- Raise the wheel bearing housing using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) until dimension - a - is reached.

Do not lift or lower the vehicle with the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) still under the vehicle.

Do not leave the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) under the vehicle any longer than necessary.

- Tighten the bolts and nuts.

- Lower the wheel bearing housing.

- Move the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) away from under the vehicle.

- Remove the wheel hub support (T10149).
