Headlamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

It is not necessary to disconnect battery.

Illustrations depict removal and installation of left headlamp.

Replacement of left headlamp and right headlamp is performed analogously.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.

Should an HID headlamp be removed, perform basic setting after installation.

Removing

- Switch ignition and all electrical consumers off and disengage the key or ignition switch in position 0 (ignition off).

During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the Coming Home / Leaving Home functions on its own.

- Release and disconnect electrical connection - arrow -.





- Remove radiator grille.

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Remove mounting bolts - arrows - and remove guide profile - 1 -.





- Remove the mounting bolts - arrows - at top of headlamp.





- Remove the mounting bolts - arrows - at bottom of headlamp.





- Remove headlamp from body cutout.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Tighten all screws to their tightening specification. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications, Headlamps ] [1][2]Headlamp.

- Check installation position of headlamp for uniform gap dimensions.

If headlamp has an uneven gap dimension to the body, installation position must be corrected, refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

- Check headlamp for function.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.
