Subframe Mount, Adjusting, Passat and Passat CC

• If only the subframe on the engine side will be adjusted, a hook (10 - 222 A /10) will be sufficient. It is not necessary to remove the air filter, battery and battery plate.





Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

•

• Engine support bridge (10 - 222 A)

• Bracket with Spindle and Hook (10 - 222 A /10), qty. 2

• Shackle (10 - 222 A /12)

• Passat: Frame (10 - 222 A /1)

• Passat CC: Adapter (10 - 222 A /8)

Adjusting

Proceed as follows:

- Remove the engine cover => [ Engine Cover, Removing and Installing ] Engine Cover, Removing and Installing.

- Remove the air filter => [ Air Filter, Removing and Installing ] Air Filter, Removing and Installing.

CAUTION!
Risk of destroying electrical components when battery is disconnected.

• Observe measures when disconnecting battery.

- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the ground wire - arrow - on the battery.





- Remove the battery.

- Remove the battery tray - arrows -.





- Position the engine support bridge (10 - 222 A) with the following tool components as illustrated.

Passat:





• Engine brackets (10 - 222 A /1) qty. 2

• Bracket with Spindle and Hook (10 - 222 A /10), qty. 2

• Shackle (10 - 222 A /12)

Passat CC:





• Adapter (10 - 222 A /8) qty. 2

• Bracket with Spindle and Hook (10 - 222 A /10), qty. 2

• Shackle (10 - 222 A /12)

• Do not place the adapter (10 - 222 A /8) on the fender panels. They will be damaged.

• The shackle (10 - 222 A /12) is needed to make sure the engine is lifted in the installation position and not tipped away.

All:

- Support the engine with the transmission but do not lift it.

- Replace the subframe bolts on the engine side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.





Manual Transmission





- Replace the subframe mount bolts on the transmission side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.

Vehicles with automatic transmission:





- Replace the subframe mount bolts on the transmission side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.

All:

- Loosen left and right support arm bolts approximately 2 turns.

- Adjust the subframe mount and hand-tighten the bolts.

• There must be a distance - a - of at least 10 mm present between engine support and right longitudinal member.





• Casting edge on engine support - 2 - must stand parallel to bracket - 1 -.

Manual Transmission





• On transmission side, edges of support arm - 1 - and transmission mount - 2 - are parallel.

• Dimension - x - same size on both sides of bracket.

Vehicles with automatic transmission:





• On the transmission side, the edges of the support arm - A - and the transmission mount - B - are parallel.

• Dimension - x - same size on both sides of bracket.

All:

- Tighten the subframe frame bolts to the tightening specification => [ Subframe Mount, Rabbit, Eos, Passat and Scirocco, Assembly Overview ] Subframe Mount, Rabbit, Eos, Passat and Scirocco, Assembly Overview.

Further installation is performed in reverse order.
