Battery in Engine Compartment






Battery in Engine Compartment

=> [ 4 and 5 Cylinder, Gasoline ]

=> [ 4-Cylinder Diesel ]

4 and 5 Cylinder, Gasoline

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Disconnect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Pull out battery box panel upward in direction of arrow.





- Remove mounting screws - 1 - and remove retaining bracket - 2 -.





- Fold handles - arrows - upward and take out battery.





Installing

CAUTION!
If battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:

Shortened battery service life due to vibration damage (explosion hazard).

Damage to battery plates.

Damage to battery casing caused by bracket (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).

Reduced collision safety.

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification. Refer to => [ Specifications ] Specifications.

- After installing, verify battery is properly seated.

- Reconnect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

CAUTION!
When disconnecting and connecting battery, the procedure must be followed as described in the repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

4-Cylinder Diesel

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Disconnect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Pull out battery box panel upward in direction of arrow.





- Remove mounting screws - 1 - and remove retaining bracket - 2 -.





- Fold handles - arrows - upward and take out battery.
