Removing






- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.

- Disconnect the positive battery cable (1).

- Remove the bolt (2) securing the hold down retainer (8) to the tray (7).

- Lift the battery (4) from the battery tray and remove it from the vehicle.

- Remove the thermal guard from the battery, if equipped.

Installing






• When replacing the battery, the thermal guard (if equipped) MUST be transferred to the new battery.

- Install the battery (4) onto the battery tray (7) making sure that the thermal guard (if equipped) is present and the battery is properly positioned on the tray (7).

- Install the battery hold down retainer (8) and bolt (2) ensuring that it is properly positioned on the battery. Tighten the bolt to 7 Nm (62 in lbs)

- Connect the positive battery cable (1). Tighten the nut to 5 Nm (45 in lbs).

- Connect the negative battery cable (3). Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.
