Third Row Seat, Won't Stow
This bulletin has been released to prevent and correct an intermittent or partial unlatch of the 60 percent third row seat inboard latch while attempting to stow the seat. This is done by flashing the Third Row Power Folding Seat Module (FSM) with new software.
Tip:
- StarMOBILE(TM) FLASH FILES FOR THIS BULLETIN MUST BE RETRIEVED FROM THE INTERNET.
- StarMOBILE SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 9.04 OR HIGHER FOR THIS BULLETIN.
- StarMOBILE STANDALONE MODE OR StarMOBILE DESKTOP CLIENT MAY ALSO BE USED TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
Technical Background
Customers may experience an intermittent or partial unlatch of the 60 percent third row seat inboard latch while attempting to stow the seat. Customers may experience the Third Row Power Seatback located in the folded position, on the seat cushion, preventing the seat from being used. A second attempt to store the seat may or may not be successful. A software design change has been made to eliminate these intermittent unlatch conditions.
Production Solution
New software released for Third Row Power Folding Seat Module (FSM) beginning on Dec. 29, 2008 (CW52/2008).
Service
Visually inspect the seat latches, striker and seat frame for proper alignment, operation and that all components are free of obstructions or foreign debris. Repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
