B1098 - Front Right Seat Heater Control Circuit High
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.
• When Monitored: During heated seat operation.
• Set Condition: The heated seat module detects an open or high voltage condition.
Test Step 1 - Test For Intermittent Condition
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
• Operate the heated seat switch in both positions several times.
• With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1098 - Front Right Seat Heater Control Circuit Open?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test
Step 2 - Right Seat Heater B+ Driver Circuit Short to Voltage ]
No
• The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non
- DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior
Test Step 2 - Right Seat Heater B+ Driver Circuit Short to Voltage
• Disconnect the heated seat module harness connector.
• Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Measure the voltage on the right seat heater B+ driver circuit at the heated seat module harness connector.
Is there voltage above 0.5 volts?
Yes
• Repair the right seat heater B+ driver circuit for a short to voltage.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non

No
• Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test
Step 3 - Right Seat Heater B+ Driver Circuit Open ]
Test Step 3 - Right Seat Heater B+ Driver Circuit Open
• Reconnect the heated seat module connector.
• Disconnect the passenger seat assembly 10 way harness connector.
• Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
• Connect a test light between the seat heater ground circuit and the right seat heater B+ driver circuit at the passenger seat assembly 10 way harness connector (body side).
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Operate the heated seat switch in both positions several times.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is on?
Yes
• Check the heater wiring in the passenger seat harness for an open, if OK replace the open seat heater elements.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non

No
• Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test
Step 4 - Front Right Seat Heater Control Circuit Open ]
Test Step 4 - Front Right Seat Heater Control Circuit Open
• Disconnect the heated seat module harness connector.
• Measure the resistance of the right seat heater B+ driver circuit at the passenger seat assembly 10 way harness connector to the heated seat module harness connector.
Is the resistance above 2.0 ohms?
Yes
• Repair the right seat heater B+ driver circuit for an open.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non

No
• Go to Test Step 5 => [ Test
Step 5 - Seat Heater Ground Circuit Open ]

• Using a 12 volt test light connected to 12 volts, check the seat heater ground circuit at the passenger seat assembly 10 way harness connector (body side).
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
• Replace the heated seat module.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non

No
• Repair the open or excessive resistance in the seat heater ground circuit.
• Perform Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non
