B1B91 - Driver Seat Track Position Sensor Configuration Mismatch

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

Theory of Operation

When powered, the occupant restraint controller sends a test current to the seat track position sensors. During this test, the sensors discovered are checked for agreement with the pre - programmed configuration of components assigned to the module.

When Monitored: The ORC checks for the presence of seat position sensor circuits once during the initialization process.

Set Condition: This DTC sets when the ORC detects the presence of a seat position sensor circuit while the configuration of the module does not reflect a seat track position sensor should be present. Once set, this DTC is latched for the entire power cycle and requires the module to be re - initialized to set code.

Always perform the Pre - Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.

Test Step 1 - Determine Active or Stored DTC

Ensure the battery is fully charged.

Turn the ignition ON.

With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?

ORC - Active DTC

Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test Step 2 - Check Unused Seat Position Sensor Circuits for a Short
to Voltage, Short to Ground, or Short Together ]

ORC - Stored DTC

Perform the Restraints System Intermittent Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. ORC Restraints System Intermittent Test

Test Step 2 - Check Unused Seat Position Sensor Circuits for a Short to Voltage, Short to Ground, or Short Together

Check any unused seat position sensor circuits for possible short to voltage.

Check any unused seat position sensor circuits for possible short to ground.

Check any unused seat position sensor circuits for possible short together.

Are any of the unused Seat Position circuits shorted?

Yes

Repair any unused seat position sensor circuits that are shorted.

Perform the Restraints System Intermittent Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. ORC Restraints System Intermittent Test

Turn the ignition OFF, disconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

No

Replace the ORC.

Perform the Restraints System Intermittent Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. ORC Restraints System Intermittent Test

Ensure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.

If the occupant restraint controller is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
