B1BB9 - Airbag Squib Circuit Coupling

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

Theory of Operation

When powered, the occupant restraint controller sends a test current to the squibs to verify the integrity of the squib and wiring. The presence of this code indicates that any two circuits, from two or more squibs, have become shorted or "coupled" together.

When Monitored: The ORC checks for the presence of coupled squib circuits once during the initialization process.

Set Condition: This DTC sets when the ORC detects that any two circuits, from two or more squibs, have become shorted or "coupled" together. Once set, this DTC is latched for the entire ignition cycle.

Always perform the Pre - Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.

Test Step 1 - Determine Active or Stored DTC

Ensure the battery is fully charged.

Turn the ignition ON.

Perform ORC module reset. Access the miscellaneous function menu from the ORC ECU overview screen on the scan tool to perform this operation.

With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?
