Theory of Operation

When powered, the occupant restraint controller performs an internal self test. The repair of this fault condition does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying the integrity of the module's internal memory.

• When Monitored: The ORC checks its internal memory for the number of recorded deployment events once at every power up, during the initialization process.

• Set Condition: This DTC sets when the ORC detects that three recorded deploy events have been reached. Once set, this DTC is latched indefinitely.






Always perform the Pre - Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.

Test Step 1 - Replace occupant restraint controller

• When this DTC is set, the module self test has discovered an internal fault that cannot be repaired and the module must be replaced regardless of DTC status.
