B1E54 - 3rd Row Seat Right Stow/Tailgate Position Sensor Circuit High

• When Monitored: When the seat motor is activated.

• Set Condition: If during motor operation the sensor voltage is not within a specified range this code will set.






Test Step 1 - Test For Intermittent Condition

• Turn the ignition ON.

• With the scan tool, record and erase all DTCs.

• Operate the folding seat switch several times.

• With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

• Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test
Step 2 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit
Voltage ]

No

• The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 2 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit Voltage

• With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.

• Disconnect the C391 power folding Rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector.

• Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

• With the folding seat switch select the right seat.

• Operate the folding seat switch several times.

Does the scan tool display the same DTC?

Yes

• Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test
Step 4 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit
for a Short to Voltage At Module ]

No

• Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test
Step 3 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit
for a Short to Another Circuit in Right Seat ]

Test Step 3 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit for a Short to Another Circuit in Right Seat






• Turn the ignition OFF.

• Disconnect the right power rear folding seat stow motor harness connector.

• Measure the resistance of the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit to other circuits at the C391 power folding rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector.

Is there any continuity present?

Yes

• Repair the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit for a short to another circuit.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test

No

• Replace the right power rear folding seat stow motor assembly.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test

Test Step 4 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit for a Short to Voltage At Module






• Disconnect the folding seat module C3 harness connector.

• Turn the ignition ON.

• Measure the voltage of the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit at the folding seat module C3 harness connector.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

• Repair the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit for a short to voltage.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test

No

• Go to Test Step 5 => [ Test
Step 5 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit
for a Short to Another Circuit in Left Seat ]

Test Step 5 - Check the Right Seat Stow Position Sensor Supply Circuit for a Short to Another Circuit in Left Seat






• Turn the ignition OFF.

• Measure the resistance of the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit to other circuits in the folding seat module C3 harness connector.

Is there any continuity present?

Yes

• Repair the right seat stow position sensor supply circuit for a short to another circuit.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test

No

• Replace the folding seat module.

• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
