B1E5F - 3rd Row Seat Left Latch Switch Circuit Performance
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.
• When Monitored: During stow activation.
• Set Condition: If the folding seat module does not detect after one second that the latch switches are open after it actuates the unlatch actuator this DTC will set.
Test Step 1 - Inspect Seat Mechanical Operation
To avoid bodily injury while the folding seat is in operation, keep clear of the seat leg latch striker pocket as the seat leg reaches it's fully latched position.
• Gain access to and:
• Check for object or obstruction in seat latch striker pocket or seat leg for a binding condition.
• Check seat leg latch mechanical operation by manually closing and releasing each latch and note any sticking, wear or damage.
• Inspect each seat leg latch micro switch for proper mechanical operation.
• Inspect for broken seat welds.
• Inspect for broken frame.
• Manually operate the latch release actuator and check for any binding in the latch release cable system.
Were any problems found?
No
• Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test Step 2 - Check for DTCs ]
Yes
• Correct condition or replace components as necessary.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 2 - Check for DTCs
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, record and erase all DTCs.
• Operate the folding seat switch several times.
• With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test Step 3 - Check the Latch Switch Function ]
No
• Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 3 - Check the Latch Switch Function
• With the scan tool read the left seat latch switches while manually latching and unlatching the left seat.
Do the latch switches operate correctly?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 7 => [ Test Step 7 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage ]
No
• Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test Step 4 - Check the Latch Switch Function ]
Test Step 4 - Check the Latch Switch Function
• Disconnect both left power rear folding seat latch switch connectors.
• Measure the resistance of each switch. With the latch in the unlatched position the switch should measure open and in the latched position the switch should measure closed.
Do the latch switches operate correctly?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 5 => [ Test Step 5 - Check the Left Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for
a Short to the Seat Latch Switch Return Circuit ]
No
• Replace the seat latch switch as necessary.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 5 - Check the Left Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for a Short to the Seat Latch Switch Return Circuit
• Disconnect the folding seat module C1 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance between the left seat latch switch sense circuit and the seat latch switch return circuit in the folding seat module C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms?
No
• Go to Test Step 6 => [ Test Step 6 - Check the Left Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for
a Short to Ground ]
Yes
• Repair the left seat latch switch sense circuit for a short to the seat latch switch return circuit.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 6 - Check the Left Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for a Short to Ground
• Reconnect both left power rear folding seat latch switch connectors.
• Measure the resistance of the left seat latch switch sense circuit to ground at the folding seat module C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms?
No
• Replace the folding seat module.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Yes
• Repair the left seat latch switch sense circuit for a short to ground.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 7 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage
• Disconnect the left power rear folding seat latch harness connector.
• Connect a voltmeter to the left seat latch driver circuit and the left seat unlatch driver circuit at the left power rear folding seat latch harness connector.
• With the seat in the latched position, depress the seat stow button.
Does the voltmeter display the vehicles battery voltage?
No
• Go to Test Step 8 => [ Test Step 8 - Check the Left Seat Latch Driver Circuit for an Open ]
Yes
• Replace the left power rear folding seat latch actuator.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 8 - Check the Left Seat Latch Driver Circuit for an Open
• Disconnect the power folding seat module C1 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance of the left seat latch driver circuit between the left power rear folding seat latch harness connector to the power folding seat module C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 ohms?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 9 => [ Test Step 9 - Check the Left Seat Unlatch Driver Circuit for an Open ]
No
• Repair the left seat latch driver circuit for an open.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 9 - Check the Left Seat Unlatch Driver Circuit for an Open
• Measure the resistance of the left seat unlatch driver circuit between the left power rear folding seat latch harness connector to the power folding seat module C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?
Yes
• Replace the power folding seat module.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
No
• Repair the left seat unlatch driver circuit for an open.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
