B1E60 - 3rd Row Seat Right Latch Switch Circuit Performance
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.
• When Monitored: During stow activation.
• Set Condition: If the folding seat module does not detect after one second that the latch switches are open after it actuates the unlatch actuator this DTC will set.
Test Step 1 - Inspect Seat Mechanical Operation
To avoid bodily injury during folding seat operation, keep clear of the seat leg latch striker pocket as the seat leg reaches it's fully latched position.
• Gain access to and:
• Check for object or obstruction in seat latch striker pocket or seat leg for a binding condition.
• Check seat leg latch mechanical operation by manually closing and releasing each latch and note any sticking, wear or damage.
• Inspect each seat leg latch micro switch for proper mechanical operation.
• Inspect for broken seat welds.
• Inspect for broken frame.
• Manually operate the latch release actuator and check for any binding in the latch release cable system.
Were any problems found?
No
• Go to Test Step 2 => [ Test
Step 2 - Check for DTCs ]
Yes
• Correct condition or replace components as necessary.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 2 - Check for DTCs
• Turn the ignition ON.
• With the scan tool, record and erase all DTCs.
• Operate the folding seat switch several times.
• With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 3 => [ Test
Step 3 - Check the Latch Switch Circuit Function ]
No
• Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 3 - Check the Latch Switch Circuit Function
• With the scan tool read the right seat latch switches while manually latching and unlatching the right seat.
Do the latch switches operate correctly?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 8 => [ Test Step 8 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage ]
No
• Go to Test Step 4 => [ Test Step 4 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Function ]
Test Step 4 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Function
• Disconnect the C391 power folding Rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector.
• Connect one end of jumper to cavity N seat latch switch return circuit at the 16 way and the other end to ground.
• Connect one lead of an ohmmeter to cavity M right seat latch switch sense circuit at the 16 way and the other end of the meter to ground.
• Manually latch and unlatch the right seat and note the ohmmeter.
• With the seat in the latched position the circuit should have continuity.
Does the seat latch circuit operate correctly in the right seat?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 6 => [ Test Step 6 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for
a Short to Seat Latch Switch Return in Left Seat ]
No
• Go to Test Step 5 => [ Test Step 5 - Check Each Right Seat Latch Switch ]
Test Step 5 - Check Each Right Seat Latch Switch
• Disconnect both right power rear folding seat latch switch connectors.
• Measure the resistance of each switch. With the latch in the unlatched position the switch should measure open and in the latched position the switch should measure closed.
Do the latch switches operate correctly?
Yes
• Repair the right seat latch switch sense circuit for a short ground or to the seat latch switch return circuit.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
No
• Replace the seat latch switch as necessary.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 6 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for a Short to Seat Latch Switch Return in Left Seat
• Disconnect the folding seat module C1 connector.
• Measure the resistance of the right seat latch switch sense circuit for a short to the seat latch switch return at the C391 power folding rear seat 16 way in - line connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms?
No
• Go to Test Step 7 => [ Test Step 7 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for
a Short to Ground ]
Yes
• Repair the right seat latch switch sense circuit for a short to the seat latch switch return circuit.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 7 - Check the Right Seat Latch Switch Sense Circuit for a Short to Ground
• Measure the resistance of the right seat latch switch sense circuit to ground at the folding seat module C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms?
No
• Replace the folding seat module.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Yes
• Repair the right seat latch switch sense circuit for a short to ground.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 8 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage
• Backprobe and connect a voltmeter to the right seat latch driver circuit and the right seat unlatch driver circuit at the C391 power folding rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector.
• With the seat in the latched position, depress the seat stow button and monitor the voltmeter.
Does the voltmeter display the vehicles battery voltage?
No
• Go to Test Step 9 => [ Test Step 9 - Check the Right Seat Latch Driver Circuit for an Open ]
Yes
• Go to Test Step 11 => [ Test Step 11 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage ]
Test Step 9 - Check the Right Seat Latch Driver Circuit for an Open
• Disconnect the power folding seat module C1 harness connector.
• Measure the resistance of the right seat latch driver circuit between the power folding seat module C1 harness connector to the C391 power folding rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 ohms?
Yes
• Go to Test Step 10 => [ Test Step 10 - Check the Right Seat Unlatch Driver Circuit for an
Open ]
No
• Repair the right seat latch driver circuit for an open.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 10 - Check the Right Seat Unlatch Driver Circuit for an Open
• Measure the resistance of the right seat unlatch driver circuit between the C391 power folding rear seat 16 way in - line harness connector to the power folding seat module C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?
Yes
• Replace the power folding seat module.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
No
• Repair the right seat unlatch driver circuit for an open.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Test Step 11 - Check the Seat Latch Driver Circuit Voltage
• Disconnect the right power rear folding seat latch harness connector.
• Connect a voltmeter to the right seat latch driver circuit and the right seat unlatch driver circuit at the right power rear folding seat latch harness connector.
• With the seat in the latched position, depress the seat stow button and monitor the voltmeter.
Does the voltmeter display the vehicles battery voltage?
No
• Repair either the right seat latch driver circuit or the right seat unlatch driver circuit in the right power rear folding seat for an open.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
Yes
• Replace the right power rear folding seat latch actuator.
• Perform Power Folding Seat System Verification Test. Refer to => Non - DTC Based Diagnostics. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test
