Theory of Operation
The wireless ignition node base station communicates with the steering column lock module following successful authentication with the FOBIK. The ELV then unlocks, allowing the steering wheel to rotate.
• When Monitored: The WIN checks for confirmation from the ELV that a lock or unlock command was successfully executed.
• Set Condition: This DTC sets when the WIN detects three consecutive failures to lock or unlock the ELV.
• Always perform the WIN Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Wireless Ignition Node Pre-Diagnostic Procedure
Test Step 1 - Determine Active or Stored Diagnostic Trouble Code
Is the DTC active or stored?
WIN - Active DTC
• Go to Test Step 2
WIN - STORED DTC
• Perform the WIN Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Wireless Ignition Node Verification Test
Test Step 2 - Replace the WIN
• Ensure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.
• Replace the wireless ignition node.
• Perform the WIN Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Wireless Ignition Node Verification Test
• Technicians must use the scan tool to perform the WIN programming procedure after a module replacement.
