Theory of Operation

The wireless ignition node base station communicates with the steering column lock module following successful authentication with the FOBIK. The ELV then unlocks, allowing the steering wheel to rotate.

When Monitored: The WIN checks for confirmation from the ELV that a lock or unlock command was successfully executed.

Set Condition: This DTC sets when the WIN detects three consecutive failures to lock or unlock the ELV.






Always perform the WIN Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Wireless Ignition Node Pre-Diagnostic Procedure

Test Step 1 - Determine Active or Stored Diagnostic Trouble Code

Is the DTC active or stored?

WIN - Active DTC

Go to Test Step 2

WIN - STORED DTC

Perform the WIN Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Wireless Ignition Node Verification Test

Test Step 2 - Replace the WIN

Ensure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.

Replace the wireless ignition node.

Technicians must use the scan tool to perform the WIN programming procedure after a module replacement.
