C157C-Front Axle Level Sensor Circuit High






For a complete wiring diagram, refer to.

When Monitored: Continuously.

Set Condition: The HIDT detects the Headlamp Leveling Sensor Front Signal circuit is to high.






Diagnose and repair any system voltage DTCs before continuing with this test.

Test Step 1 - ACTIVE DTC

Ignition on, engine not running.

With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.

Turn the headlamps on.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

Yes

Go to Test Step 2

No

Go to Test Step 7

Test Step 2 - (L961) HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE







Turn the headlamps off.

Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Disconnect the Front Headlamp Leveling Sensor harness connector.

Disconnect the HIDT harness connector.

Ignition on, engine not running.

Measure the voltage between ground and the (L961) Headlamp Leveling Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit in the HIDT harness connector.

Is any there voltage present?

Yes

Repair the (L961) Headlamp Leveling Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit for a short to voltage.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 3

Test Step 3 - (L960) HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR FRONT SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE







Measure the voltage between ground and the (L960) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Front Signal circuit in the HIDT harness connector.

Is any there voltage present?

Yes

Repair the (L960) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Front Signal circuit for a short to voltage.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 4

Test Step 4 - (L962) HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE







Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Measure the resistance of the (L962) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Return circuit between the Front Headlamp Leveling Sensor harness connector and the HIDT harness connector.

Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

Repair the (L962) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Return circuit for an open or high resistance.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 5

Test Step 5 - (L960) HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR FRONT SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (L961) HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT







Measure the resistance of the (L960) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Front Signal circuit and the (L961) Headlamp Leveling Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit in the HIDT harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

Repair the (L960) Headlamp Leveling Sensor Front Signal short to the (L961) Headlamp Leveling Sensor 5 Volt Supply circuit.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Go to Test Step 6

Test Step 6 - FRONT HEADLAMP LEVELING SENSOR

Replace the Front Headlamp Leveling Sensor. .

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

Ignition on, engine not running.

With the scan tool, erase DTCs.

Turn the headlamps on.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the DTC reset or is the status Active for this DTC?

Yes

Replace High Intensity Discharge Translator (HIDT). .

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Test Complete.

Test Step 7 - INTERMITTENT WIRING HARNESS AND CONNECTORS

The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.

Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and connectors specific to this circuit.

Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit.

Using the scan tool, monitor the data related to this circuit while performing the wiggle test. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset.

Were there any problems found?

Yes

Repair as necessary.

Perform the Body Verification Test. Refer to => Non-DTC Based Diagnostics. Body Interior

No

Test Complete.
