Liftgate Prop Rod






Liftgate Prop Rod

Removing

- Support the liftgate (3) with a suitable lifting device in the full open position.






- Disengage the retainer that secures the liftgate prop rod (2) being serviced to the pivot (1) located on the liftgate and disconnect the rod from the pivot.

- If required, remove the pivot from the liftgate.

- Disengage the retainer that secures the liftgate prop rod (2) being serviced to the to the pivot (3) located on the D-pillar (1) and disconnect the rod from the pivot.






- If required, remove the pivot from the D-pillar.

Installing

Be sure to install the liftgate prop rods in the correct position. The end is attached to the liftgate and the shaft end of the prop rod is attached to the D-pillar.

- If removed, install the pivot (1) onto the liftgate (3). Tighten the pivot to 34 Nm (25 ft lbs).






- Position the liftgate prop rod (2) being serviced to the liftgate and connect the rod to the pivot.

- Engage the retainer that secures the liftgate prop rod to the pivot. Make sure the retainer is fully engaged to the pivot.

- If removed, install the pivot (3) onto the D-pillar (1). Tighten the pivot to 34 Nm (25 ft lbs).






- Position the liftgate prop rod (2) being serviced to the D-pillar and connect the rod to the pivot.

- Engage the retainer that secures the liftgate prop rod to the pivot. Make sure the retainer is fully engaged to the pivot.

- Remove the lifting device from the liftgate.
