Timing Belt Inspection

Timing Belt Inspection

- Remove the front timing belt cover. Refer to => [ Front Timing Belt Cover ] Front Timing Belt Cover.

- Inspect both sides of the timing belt. Replace the belt if any of the following conditions exist:

Hardening of the black rubber back side is glossy without resilience and leaves no indent when pressed with your fingernail.

Cracks on the rubber back.

Cracks or peeling of the canvas.

Cracks on the rib root.

Cracks on the belt sides.

Missing teeth.

Abnormal wear of the belt sides. The sides are normal if they are sharp as if cut by a knife.

Vehicle mileage, or time at component maintenance requirement.

- If none of the above conditions are seen on the belt, the front timing belt cover can be reinstalled. Refer to => [ Front Timing Belt Cover ] Front Timing Belt Cover.
