Exhaust Cross under Pipe
Removing
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Remove the left exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).
- Remove the right exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).
- Remove the exhaust pipe to cross under pipe nuts (1).
- Remove the cross under pipe bracket bolt (1).
- Remove the cross under pipe.
Installing
- Install the cross under pipe, then loosely install the cross under pipe bracket bolt (1).
- Install the exhaust pipe to cross under pipe nuts (1).
- Loosely install the right exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).
- Loosely install the left exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).
• Verify that there is at least 16 mm (0.62 in.) of clearance between the indentation in the cross under pipe near the extension pipe flange and the fore-aft crossmember. Otherwise, the cross under pipe can contact the fore-aft crossmember due to engine torquing, causing a noise/vibration during acceleration.
- Tighten the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft lbs).
- Tighten the muffler/resonator assembly to cross under pipe nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft lbs).
- Tighten the cross under pipe bracket bolt to 28 Nm (21 ft lbs).
