Exhaust Cross under Pipe

Removing

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.






- Remove the left exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).






- Remove the right exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).






- Remove the exhaust pipe to cross under pipe nuts (1).






- Remove the cross under pipe bracket bolt (1).

- Remove the cross under pipe.

Installing






- Install the cross under pipe, then loosely install the cross under pipe bracket bolt (1).






- Install the exhaust pipe to cross under pipe nuts (1).






- Loosely install the right exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).






- Loosely install the left exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts (1).






Verify that there is at least 16 mm (0.62 in.) of clearance between the indentation in the cross under pipe near the extension pipe flange and the fore-aft crossmember. Otherwise, the cross under pipe can contact the fore-aft crossmember due to engine torquing, causing a noise/vibration during acceleration.

- Tighten the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter to cross under pipe bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft lbs).

- Tighten the muffler/resonator assembly to cross under pipe nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft lbs).

- Tighten the cross under pipe bracket bolt to 28 Nm (21 ft lbs).
