Headlamp Leveling Sensor, Rear
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Locate the rear headlamp leveling sensor (1) on the underside of the lower C-pillar reinforcement outboard of the left lower control arm for the rear axle.
- Disconnect the underbody wire harness connector from the connector receptacle for the sensor.
- Carefully unsnap the lower end of the sensor link from the ball stud (2) on the outboard side of the left lower control arm for the rear axle.
- Remove the bolt (3) that secures the sensor mounting bracket to the lower C-pillar reinforcement.
- Disengage the two tabs on the inboard side of the sensor mounting bracket from the two slots in the lower C-pillar reinforcement.
- Remove the sensor, mounting bracket and link from the vehicle as a unit.
Installing
- Position the sensor (1), mounting bracket and link as a unit to the underside of the lower C-pillar reinforcement outboard of the left lower control arm for the rear axle.
- Engage the two tabs on the inboard side of the sensor mounting bracket into the two slots in the lower C-pillar reinforcement.
- Install and tighten the bolt (3) that secures the sensor mounting bracket to the lower C-pillar reinforcement. Tighten the bolt to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
- Reconnect the underbody wire harness connector to the connector receptacle for the sensor.
- Align the socket formation on the lower end of the sensor link with the ball stud (2) on the outboard side of the left lower control arm for the rear axle. Press the link socket formation firmly and evenly over the ball stud until it snaps into place.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Reconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.
