EVAP Canister

Removing


The fuel system is under constant pressure even with the engine off. Before servicing any part of the fuel system, the pressure must be released.

- Remove the fuel cap.

- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to => [ Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure ] Service and Repair.

- Loosen and reposition the fuel fill tube hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.

- Remove the fuel fill tube hose from the fuel tank.






- Disconnect body wiring harness electrical connector from the fuel pump.






- Disconnect the fuel line quick connect fitting (1) and evaporative emission line quick connect fitting (2). Refer to => [ Quick Connect Fitting Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.






- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the evaporative system integrity monitor switch (2).

- Disconnect the fuel fill vapor hose from the fuel tank control valve hose.

- Disconnect the fuel fill vapor hose (3) from the ESIM switch (2).







Support fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or fuel tank to fall from jack assembly.

- Remove the fuel tank strap bolts (3) and straps (2).

- Remove the EVAP canister bracket bolt (1).






- Lower the fuel tank.

- Disconnect the EVAP line quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister fitting (1).






- Disconnect EVAP canister quick connect fitting (3) from fuel tank control valve.

- Remove the EVAP canister (2).

Installing

- Install the EVAP canister (2).

- Connect the EVAP canister quick connect fitting (3) to the fuel tank control valve.

- Connect the EVAP line quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister fitting (1).







Support fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or fuel tank to fall from jack assembly.

- Position the fuel tank onto a transmission jack or equivalent. Raise the fuel tank into vehicle position.

- Install the EVAP canister bracket bolt (1). Tighten the bolt to 55 Nm (41 ft lbs).

- Install the fuel tank straps (2) and bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft lbs).






- Connect the fuel fill vapor hose (3) to the ESIM switch (2).

- Connect the fuel fill vapor hose (4) to the fuel tank control valve hose.

- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the ESIM switch (2).






- Connect the fuel line quick connect fitting (1) and EVAP line quick connect fitting (2). Refer to => [ Quick Connect Fitting Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.






- Connect the body wiring harness electrical connector to the fuel pump.






- Install the fuel fill tube hose to the fuel tank.

- Position and tighten the fuel fill tube hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.






- Fill the fuel tank and install the fuel cap.

- Use the scan tool auto shutdown fuel system test to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.
