Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair






Front Evaporator Temperature Sensor


Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

Removing

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

- If equipped, remove the silencer from below the passenger side of the instrument panel..






- Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the evaporator temperature sensor (3) located on the side of the front HVAC housing (1).

- Remove the evaporator temperature sensor from the front HVAC housing.

Installing






- Install the evaporator temperature sensor (3) into the opening in the side of the front HVAC housing (1).

- Connect the wire harness connector (2) to the evaporator temperature sensor.

- If equipped, install the silencer to the bottom of the instrument panel..

- Connect the negative battery cable.
