Removing





When loosening the weld seams, be sure not to damage the plates behind it.

- Separate the original connection.

- Remove residual material.

Preparing Replacement Parts

Fender mount





- Drill 7 mm holes for the gas-shielded arc plug weld seam according the old parts.

- Attach the fender mount - 1 - to the fender - 2 -.

- Install the fender and the door to the vehicle.

- Remove the door.

Installing





- Attach the fender mount from the wheel housing outward.

- Remove the fender.





- Weld the fender mount, gas-shielded arc plug weld seam.

Installing

When using different types of steel and materials of different strengths, one of the inverters listed under Tools are required to perform repair work correctly.





MIG soldered seams are permitted on the separating cuts shown in the illustration.

Preparing Replacement Parts

Sub-part, front side panel (replacement part identification: sub-part pillar A/ B with sill panel)

Two-part body adhesive (D 180 KD3 A2)

Butyl sealing cord (AKD 497 010 04 R10)

Molded foam part





- Transfer separating cut onto new part and cut to shape.

- Pierce the transition of the new part to the front wheel housing and to the sill panel reinforcement.

Molded Foam Inserts

Welding





New part must be installed within 20 minutes, otherwise bonding properties of adhesive will be impaired.

The holes for the hinge mount must be cleaned after applying the adhesive.

- Install a butyl sealing cord (AKD 497 010 04 R10 ) in area - 1 -.

- Apply 2K body adhesive (D 180 KD3 A2) in the areas where it was bonded during production; adhesive bead: approx. 3.5 mm dia..

The straight line weld points must be placed as far as possible from the outer edge of the weld flange.





- Install new part with vehicle standing on the alignment bracket set and affix it in place.

- Check fit with attachments.





The separating cuts can be welded with a MIG-L stitch weld seam.

- Weld separating cuts, SG stepped seam.

- Weld in A-pillar to the sill panel, gas-shielded arc plug weld seam.





- Weld the A-pillar in the windshield cutout - 1 -, straight-line spot weld seam.

- Weld the A-pillar to the A-pillar reinforcement - 2 -, using a gas-shielded arc plug weld seam.

- Create a connection in the door cutout, straight-line spot weld seam.

Use 2K filler foam D 506 KD1 A2 AT position 2 - A-pillar to upper longitudinal member.
