Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527)
Follow the specified sequence when removing and installing steering column switch components. Refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence ] Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence.
• After installing a new control module, it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), Coding, Through 05.10 ] Testing and Inspection.
• If malfunctions occur at steering column switch, coding of control module must be checked. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), Coding, Through 05.10 ] Testing and Inspection.
Removing
- Remove bolt - 1 -.
- Slide a suitable wire - 2 - approximately 45 mm (1.75 in.) deep - arrow 1 - into the hole on the Steering Column Electronics Control Module to release the retaining tab - arrow 2 -.
- Using a suitable screwdriver, press rear catch retaining tab - arrow A - back toward steering wheel to loosen catch.
- Carefully pull Steering Column Electronics Control Module downward from steering column switches.
• When removing, ensure Steering Column Electronics Control Module is removed straight downward without tilting.
- Disengage - arrow A - harness connector - 1 - and disconnect it from Steering Column Electronics Control Module.
- Remove securing latch - 3 - from harness connector - 2 -.
- Disengage lock - arrow B - on electrical connection - 2 - and disconnect from Steering Column Electronics Control Module.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Make sure the pins are not bent and the connector clicks into place.
