Clutch Housing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Slide Hammer-Complete Set (VW 771)

• Locking Pin (30-505)

• Thrust Piece (T10233)

• Pulling Hook (T201431)

• Kukko Extractor 18.5-23.5 mm (21/3)

• When installing the tapered roller bearing, install new shims which have the same thickness as the previous shims.






1 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing

• For the 1st and 2nd gear output shaft.

• Removing and installing, see - item 4 - in => [ 1st and 2nd Gear Output Shaft Overview ] 1st and 2nd Gear Output Shaft Overview.

• When installing: install an adjusting shim - 2 - with the same thickness.

2 Adjusting Shim

• For the 1st and 2nd gear output shaft.

• Pay attention to the thickness.

• Will get damaged when being removed, always replace.

3 Oil Deflector Ring

• Installed position: The shoulder on the hole faces the output shaft.

4 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing

• For the 3rd and 4th gear output shaft.

• Removing and installing, see - item 4 - in => [ 3rd and 4th Gear Output Shaft Overview ] 3rd and 4th Gear Output Shaft Overview.

• When installing: install an adjusting shim - 5 - with the same thickness.

5 Adjusting Shim

• For the 3rd and 4th gear output shaft.

• Pay attention to the thickness.

• Will get damaged when being removed, always replace.

6 Locking Ring

• Install in the circumferential groove in the clutch housing.

7 Roller Bearing

• For the input shaft.

• Removing and installing, see - item 2 - in => [ Input Shaft Overview ] Input Shaft Overview.

8 Bushing

• For the selector shaft with selector rods.

• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the Selector Shaft Bushing ].

• Installing, refer to => [ Installing the Selector Shaft Bushing ].

9 Alignment Sleeve

• Quantity: 2

11 Input Shaft Seal

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal ] Input Shaft Seal.

• Seal can only be removed using the extractor lever (VW 681) when transmission is disassembled.

12 Seal

• Replacing, with the transmission installed. Refer to => [ Right Stub Shaft and Seal ] Right Stub Shaft and Seal.

13 Washer

• For the differential

• Installed position: The shoulder on the inner circumference faces the seal - 12 -.

14 Adjusting Shim

• For the differential.

• Adjusting the differential, refer to => [ Differential, Adjusting ] Differential, Adjusting.

15 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing

• For the differential.

• Removing and installing, see - item 7 - in => [ Differential Overview ] Removal and Replacement.

• When installing: install an adjusting shim - 14 - with the same thickness.

16 Oil Deflector Ring

• Installed position: The shoulder on the hole faces the output shaft.

17 Adjusting Shim

• For the reverse gear output shaft.

• Pay attention to the thickness.

18 Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing

• For the reverse gear output shaft.

• Removing and installing, see - item 4 - in => [ Reverse Gear Output Shaft Overview ] Reverse Gear Output Shaft Overview.

• When installing: install an adjusting shim - 17 - with the same thickness.
