Clutch Assembly Overview

• Replace clutch disc and pressure plate if the rivets are damaged or loose.

• Replace the pressure plate and the clutch disc together.

• Either a "Sachs" or a "LuK" clutch may be installed.

• Allocate the pressure plate and the clutch disc according to the engine code.

• Clean the input shaft splines and (on used clutch plates) the hub splines. Remove any corrosion and apply a very thin coating of grease for clutch plate splines (G 000 100) on the splines. Then move the clutch plate back and forth on the transmission input shaft until the hub moves freely on the shaft. Remove any excess grease.

• The pressure plate is corrosion-protected and greased. Only the running surfaces may be cleaned, otherwise the service life of the clutch will be shortened considerably.

• The pressure plate contact surface and the clutch disc lining must completely touch the flywheel. Install the bolts.

1 Dual Mass Flywheel

• Make sure it fits securely on the centering pins.

• Keep the clutch lining contact surface free of grooves, oil and grease.

2 Clutch Disc

• Only replace together with the Self Adjusting Clutch (SAC) pressure plate.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch, LuK ] Clutch, LuK.

• Installed position, refer to => [ Clutch Disc Installed Position ] Clutch, LuK.

3 SAC Pressure Plate

• SAC = "Self Adjusting Clutch"

• Only replace together with the clutch disc.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch, LuK ] Clutch, LuK.

• Checking the ends of the diaphragm spring, refer to => [ Checking the Ends of the Diaphragm
Spring ] Clutch, LuK.

• Checking the spring and rivet connections, refer to => [ Checking the Spring and Rivet Connections ] Clutch, LuK.

4 Bolt

• M6 bolt: 13 Nm

• M7 bolt: 20 Nm

• Loosen and tighten in small steps and in a diagonal sequence.

4 Bolt

• M6 bolt: 13 Nm

• M7 bolt: 20 Nm

• Loosen and tighten in small steps and in a diagonal sequence.
