Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake Button (E538) and AUTO HOLD Button (E540)

The Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake Button and the -AUTO HOLD- Button are contained in a single button module which is located in the center console between the front seats.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

- Carefully insert a 0.6 mm feeler gauge - 1 - into the gap between the center console - 2 - and the button module - 3 - as illustrated.






- Hold the feeler gauge vertically and insert it 10 mm deep between the button module and center console.

Inserting the feel gauge vertically makes sure that it reaches the locking button and outer side. At 10 mm, the tip of the feeler gauge will touch the locking button.

- Tilt the feeler gauge - 1 - in - direction of arrow - to actuate the locking button - 3 -. At the same time, lift the rear button module - 2 - out of the center console - 4 - upward.






- Remove the button module - 1 - upward from the center console while being careful of connected wires.






- Pull out the primary connector - 1 -, press the release button - 2 - and disconnect the harness connector - 3 -.






- Remove the button module from the vehicle.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.
