Body Control Module: Service and Repair






Comfort System Central Control Module (J393), Through 05.09

If the Comfort System Central Control Module is to be replaced, the work procedure => [ Replacing/Coding ] Replacing/Coding to read out the codes stored in the module must always be performed.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim.

- Push the bracket - 2 - retaining lever - 1 - for the comfort system central control module - 3 - in - direction of arrow A -.






- At the same time, push the comfort system central control module - 3 - in the bracket - 2 - approximately 5 mm in - direction of arrow B - into the first in latch position.

For reasons of clarity, the Comfort System Central Control Module is shown removed in the following illustrations.

The connectors can only be disengaged and disconnected when the recesses - arrows - of the connectors and bracket line up exactly.






- Release and disconnect the connectors - arrows - from the Comfort System Central Control Module (J393).






The number of connectors depends on the vehicle equipment.

All connectors can only be connected in one position and therefore do not need to be labeled.

The Comfort system central control module - 2 - remains in the bracket - 3 -.






- Unclip the bracket - 3 - out of the retaining tabs - 1 - and remove the bracket - 3 - in - direction of arrow -.

- Push the retaining lever - 3 - in - direction of arrow A - and while doing so, slide the Comfort system central control module - 2 - in - direction of arrow B - out of the bracket - 1 -.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Slide the Comfort system central control module in the bracket only into the first latch position until the recesses - arrows - of the connectors and bracket stand exactly over each other.

Connectors can only be released and disconnected when the openings - arrows - on the connectors and on the bracket line up exactly.






- Connect the harness connectors - arrows -.






- Mount the bracket - 3 - together with the connected control module - 2 - onto the retaining tabs - 1 -.






- Slide the control module - 2 - all the way into the bracket (second latch position) to lock the harness connectors.
