Lighting - Supplemental Cornering Lamp Inoperative

Supplemental Cornering Bulb is Inoperative or Requires Repeat Replacement

Technical Background

Excess voltage may result in a reduction in the service life of the supplemental cornering bulb(s).

To extend the service life of the supplemental cornering bulb(s), the voltage supplied to the bulb(s) is reduced.

Tip:
Only the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) cornering bulb(s) will be switched OFF and no longer operate with Daytime Running Lamps (DRL). All other exterior bulb(s) remain unaffected.

Service

Procedure

^ Verify the supplemental corning bulb is inoperative and replace before programming.

^ Connect VAS 50XX Diagnostic Tool and Midtronics Battery tester/charger.

^ Select vehicle self diagnosis.

^ Select OBD standard.

^ Select 55 automatic vertical headlight aim control.

^ Press the forward arrow 2 times.

^ Select 07 coding.





^ Select the first option as shown below (figure 1).

^ Press the forward arrow.








^ Enter new code for your specific vehicle as identified from the listed PR codes. See table.

^ Press "Q" on number pad after entering code.





^ The display screen will show the old and new code (figure 2).





Tip:
The bulb icon located on the instrument cluster will blink after the new code has been entered (figure 3).








^ Press the backward arrow and select 006 to perform basic settings (figure 4).





^ Press the forward arrow. Enter "1" and press "Q" on the number pad (figure 5).







^ Press "Activate". The bulb icon should turn off and basic setting is complete (figure 6).
