Condition
Haldex Clutch Inoperative
Poor performance and various warning lights such as ESP warning are ON.
The following entries can be logged:
^ SAE code 1324 - module for four-wheel drive, no signal/communication
^ SAE code 1324 - module for four-wheel drive, implausible signal
^ SAE code 1316 - brakes module, no signal/communication
^ SAE code 1312 - data bus drive, no signal/communication
Technical Background
Inspect the wiring harness end connector on the Haldex module for corrosion/oxidation.
Production Solution
Optimized adapter wiring loom for Haldex clutch, from chassis number: WVGBV7AX7AW003549 and WVGZZZ5NZAW083464.
Service
^ Replace the adapter harness Part No.: 5N0 971 166 and the module for Haldex clutch Part No: 0AY598554A OR 0AY598554A.
Installation instructions for Haldex adapter harness:
^ Remove the seat bench, see Repair Manual group 72 in Elsaweb.
^ Remove fuel pump cover.
^ Disconnect the plug (arrow).
^ Connect the new wiring harness with the original harness connector on the vehicle and tape connection to secure.
^ Raise and support the vehicle.
^ Disconnect the harness connector on the Haldex module.
^ Install new Haldex Control Module Part No. 0AY598554A OR 0AY598554B, see repair Manual Group 39 Rear Final Drive, Differential in ElsaWeb.
^ Release the harness retainer (arrow).
^ Carefully pull out the original Haldex wiring harness, while pulling though new harness.
^ Remove the adhesive tape.
^ Secure the harness retainer of the new wiring loom from above into the access hole.
^ Connect the remaining harness connector to the Haldex module.
