Windshield Wiper System

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Deactivate APP function Refer to => [ Wiper Motor, Deactivating Alternating Park Position (APP) Function, Through 05.09 ] Wiper Motor, Deactivating Alternating Park Position (APP) Function, Through 05.09 or => [ Wiper Motor, Deactivating Alternating Park Position (APP) Function, From 06.09 ] Wiper Motor, Deactivating Alternating Park Position (APP) Function, From 06.09.

- Let the wiper arm run into rest position and then switch off the ignition.


Follow the procedure in the repair information when disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting ] Battery, Disconnecting.

• In order remove the wiper frames with linkages and the wiper motor, remove the wiper arms => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms and plenum chamber cover, refer to Moldings and Trim.

Installing

- Install the wiper frame in reverse order of removal. The securing pin on the back of the wiper motor - 2 - must be inserted into the grommet on the bulkhead - 1 - when installing.






- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification shown in => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

- Connect harness connector to wiper motor connection and engage it.

- Install the plenum chamber cover. Refer to Moldings and Trim.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Connecting ] Battery, Connecting.

- Install wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.
