12-way Seat Backrest

• Removal and installation is described for the left-hand side of the vehicle. Removal and installation for the right-hand side is performed in the same manner.

Removing

- Remove belt anchor. Refer to => [ Belt Anchor ] Belt Anchor.

- Remove 12-way seat. Refer to => [ 12-way Seat ] 12-way Seat.

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Secure 12-way seat on fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Disconnect backrest cover retaining straps - 1 - and - 2 - from underside of seat base.

- Depending on vehicle equipment, disconnect backrest wiring harnesses - 3 - beneath seat base.

- Detach profiles - 4 - and - 5 - from mountings.





- Remove backrest hinge trim for 12-way seat - 2 -. Refer to => [ 12-way Seat Backrest Hinge Trim ] 12-way Seat Backrest Hinge Trim.

- Remove trim for 12-way seat - 1 -. Refer to => [ 12-way Seat Trim ] 12-way Seat Trim.

- Remove two bolts each on left and right sides - 3 - and - 4 - (27 Nm).

• The bolts are microencapsulated and must therefore be replaced after every removal.

• Before installing the new bolts, the threads of the corresponding nuts must be cleaned.

- Remove the backrest from the seat frame.





Installation

- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
