Power Window Switch: Service and Repair

Rear Window Opening Button (E361)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removal

- Remove wiper arm. Refer to => [ Rear Window Wiper Arm ] Rear Window Wiper Arm.

- Remove hex nut - 1 -.






- Open rear window, rear window emergency release. Refer to => [ Rear Window Emergency Release ] Description and Operation.

- Release cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - from locking devices and remove it.






- Slide insulation - 1 - to the side in - direction of arrow - and thus expose the harness connector.






- Disconnect electrical connection - arrow -.






- Remove nuts - arrows -.






- Remove lock bracket - 1 - and wiper shaft with crank - 2 -.

- Remove Rear Window Opening Button.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten the nuts - arrows - to the tightening specification shown in => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications, Rear Window Opener ] [1][2]Power Trunk / Liftgate Lock Switch.






- Tighten the hex nut - 1 - to the tightening specification shown in => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications, Rear Window Opener ] [1][2]Power Trunk / Liftgate Lock Switch.






- Install wiper arm. Refer to => [ Rear Window Wiper Arm ] Rear Window Wiper Arm.
