Brake Caliper, C60
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)
• Brake Pedal Actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)
Work procedure applies only for replacing or when performing subsequent service work on brake caliper.
Removing
- Remove wheels.
- Disconnect the brake pad wear display connector.
- Connect bleeder hose of bleeder bottle to bleeder valve of brake caliper and then open bleeder valve.
- Install (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Close the bleed valve and remove the bleeder bottle.
- Remove the brake hose.
- Counter hold the guide pins and remove both screws from the brake caliper.
- Remove the brake caliper from the brake carrier.
Installing
• Piston is pressed back.
• Both brake pads and their springs fit into the opening in the brake carrier.
- Place the brake caliper carefully on the brake carrier.
- Counter hold the guide pins and attach the brake caliper to the brake carrier with new self-locking screws.
- Attach the brake hose to the brake caliper.
- Remove (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Connect the brake pad wear display connector.
- Bleed brake system.
- Install wheels.
• Before moving the vehicle, depress brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.
• Check brake fluid level.
