Rear Lid, Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)
• Vehicle must be on ground to adjust rear lid.
• The rear lid latch is attached directly to rear lid - 1 -. There are no oblong holes in the rear lid, therefore it is not possible to adjust the latch.
• The left and right buffers - 2 - are not for adjusting. They stabilize the hood - 1 -.
• The rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• Rear lid must engage in striker pin - 3 - without great force.
The adjustment of the rear lid is described in multiple steps.
To adjust or check panel gaps, use adjustment gauge (3371). Gap dimensions are found under: => 00.
Adjusting Gap Dimensions
- By loosening the bolts - 4 -, the rear lid - 1 - can be adjusted in the oversized holes on the hinge.
Tightening specification for screw - 4 -: 22 Nm.
- Adjust the rear lid - 1 - on the striker pin - 3 -. Refer to=> [ Rear Lid Striker Pin, Adjusting ] Rear Lid Striker Pin, Adjusting
Adjusting Height
- Adjust left and right adjusting buffers - 2 -. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Adjustment Buffer, Adjusting ] Rear Lid Adjustment Buffer, Adjusting.
- Adjust rear lid - 1 - on striker pin - 3 -. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Striker Pin, Adjusting ] Rear Lid Striker Pin, Adjusting.
- To adjust the rear height, the bolt - 5 - is loosened. The rear shelf must be removed for this purpose.
Tightening specification for screw - 5 -: 22 Nm.
• After adjusting, apply a corrosion protectant to the hinge and bolts.
